These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Ignitech Academy ("Ignitech", "we", "us", or "our") and govern your access to and use of ignitechacademy.org, our learning platform, courses, certificates, and related services (together, the "Service"). Please read them carefully. They work alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Plain-language summary: Use the platform fairly and lawfully, keep your account secure, and respect our instructors' content. Paid courses are billed through Paystack; you can request a refund within 14 days if you've completed under 30% of the course. Certificates confirm completion, not employment. Your learning outcomes depend on your own effort.
1Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, enrolling in a course, making a payment, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation, and "you" refers to that organisation.
2Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and enter into these Terms. Learners aged 13 to 17 may use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on their behalf. We do not knowingly provide the Service to children under 13. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle minors' data.
3Your account
Account registration and sign-in are powered by Supabase Auth. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it up to date;
- Keep your password and login credentials confidential;
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account;
- Notify us promptly at hello@ignitechacademy.com of any unauthorised use or suspected breach of your account.
One account is for one person. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account or allow others to use it.
4Course access and your licence
When you enroll in a course, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and view that course's content through the Service for your own, non-commercial learning. This licence lasts for as long as we keep the course available on the Service, unless your access ends under these Terms.
Free courses may be added, modified, or withdrawn at any time. We may also update or improve paid course content; where a change is material and adverse, we will act reasonably and in good faith.
5Payments and billing
- Prices for paid courses are displayed on the Service. The price you pay is the price shown at the point you complete checkout. Prices may change over time, but changes do not affect courses you have already purchased.
- Payments are processed by Paystack Payments Limited ("Paystack") through its secure, hosted, PCI-DSS-compliant checkout. By paying, you also agree to Paystack's terms and privacy policy.
- You enter your card or bank details directly with Paystack. Ignitech does not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or PIN; we receive only confirmation and limited billing details needed to fulfil your order.
- You agree to provide valid, authorised payment details and confirm you are permitted to use the payment method. Paystack may apply additional security steps, such as one-time passwords (OTP) or two-factor authentication.
- Unless stated otherwise, prices are in Nigerian Naira (₦). You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase where required by law.
6Refunds and cancellation
We want you to be satisfied with your learning. Our refund policy for paid courses:
- You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase, provided you have completed less than 30% of the course;
- Refunds are issued to your original payment method via Paystack and may take several business days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer;
- We may decline refunds where we reasonably believe the policy is being abused — for example, repeated buy-complete-refund behaviour, or where substantial content has been downloaded or consumed;
- Promotional, discounted, or bundled purchases may carry their own additional refund terms, which we will state at the point of sale.
Nothing in this section limits any non-excludable rights you may have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018 or other applicable Nigerian consumer-protection law.
7Acceptable use
To keep Ignitech safe and useful for everyone, you agree not to:
- Copy, record, download (except where expressly permitted), scrape, resell, sub-licence, or publicly distribute course content;
- Share your account or login credentials, or access the Service using someone else's account;
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security, access controls, or usage limits;
- Upload or transmit malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its systems, or other users' data;
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service except for permitted search-engine indexing;
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or defame other learners, instructors, or staff, or post unlawful, infringing, or harmful content;
- Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose.
8Your content
You may submit content to the Service, such as project work, quiz answers, forum or comment posts, and profile information ("Your Content"). You retain ownership of Your Content. By submitting it, you grant Ignitech a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display Your Content as needed to operate and provide the Service. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights to submit it and that it does not infringe any third party's rights or any law. We may remove content that breaches these Terms.
9Intellectual property
All materials on the Service — including videos, text, graphics, quizzes, code samples, course structure, the Ignitech name and logo, and the platform itself — are owned by Ignitech Academy or our instructors and licensors and are protected by the Copyright Act, the Trade Marks Act, and other applicable intellectual property laws. Except for the limited licence in Section 4, no rights are transferred to you. You may not use our trade marks or branding without our prior written permission.
10Certificates
When you meet a course's completion requirements, we issue a certificate of completion. Certificates confirm that you completed our coursework; they are not accredited academic qualifications or degrees, and they do not guarantee employment, a salary, or any specific outcome. You agree not to alter, forge, or misrepresent any certificate. We may verify, suspend, or revoke a certificate obtained through cheating, fraud, or breach of these Terms.
11Service availability
We work to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service depends on third-party infrastructure, including Supabase and its cloud hosting. We may suspend, restrict, or withdraw all or part of the Service for maintenance, updates, security, or reasons beyond our reasonable control, and will try to give notice where practical.
12Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted or secure, or that any particular learning, certification, or career outcome will be achieved — results depend on your own effort and factors outside our control. Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty or right that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
13Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Ignitech will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or relating to your use of the Service;
- Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the relevant course in that period, or (b) ₦20,000.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
14Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Ignitech, its directors, employees, and instructors harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of any third-party right or applicable law.
15Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, to prevent harm or fraud, or to protect the Service and its users. On termination, your licence to access course content ends. Sections that by their nature should survive — including Sections 8 to 10 and 12 to 16 — will continue to apply. Where you have paid for a course and we terminate without cause, we will refund the unused portion on a fair basis.
16Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve any dispute informally. If we cannot, the dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Nigeria, except where applicable law in your place of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
17Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and version above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service. Changes take effect when posted (or on the date we state). Your continued use of the Service after that means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and may close your account.
